BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening. Present : His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), and Messrs Hogg, Macdonald, Cramond,, Canning, Dunne, and Doull. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ' CQRBESPONDENPE. Mr George Thomson, **\rrote asking the Council to construct a culvert between Pukef uea-street and Hasborough road ; also, to remove scrub from that part of Pukef uea-street adjoining his house. Mr Dunne moved that the matter he referred to the Works Committee.— Carried. . TENDERS., The following tenders, were opened for the lease of the toll of the Balclutha, bridge :— D. Macfarlane, £146 ; James Spence., £114 Is 3d ; J. M'Kissock, £109, 15s ; . Francis 'Sprightly, ' -£102,; David Spence, ,£84.; James Dillon, ,£6O ; John Henderson, £48.,- — It was. resolved to ac-r cept Mr D. M'Farlane's tender. FIRE INSPECTORS. Messrs , J. , Sinclair •: .and Daly were appointed inspectors of fires. * CHANGE , OF MEETING HOUR. Mr Dunne said as the traffic was heavy the work ought to be done "as soon as' possible j and moved that it be carried out at once. — Carried. • ? bye-laws. . . Mr Hogg, on behalf of, the, Bye-laws Committee, reported that they had drawn up a draft of bye-laws.. ." X A ' . Mr Doull moved that teriders be called for 'the publication pf the bye-laws. [ Seconded by Mr Canning. •-' '' After a long and animated discussion, Mr Macdonald moved- as an amendriient that the printing of the bye-laws be left to the Bye-laws Comriiittee, with power to act. Seconded by Mr Dunne and carried. The meeting then adjourned. ;
