INCH CLUTHA.

The meeting of householders was lield ~in luch Clutha school on Monday evening. "The Chairman (Mr W. A. Mosley) ex•plained the object of the meeting, and -called upon Mr Lawson, the secretary of the retiring Committee, to read the report vfor the past year. Mr Lawson read extracts from tlie -school returns showing the total attendance for the past year toliavebeen 62, the average attendance 40 ; for the past -quarter tlie total attendance was 57, and "the average attendance 47. The report was approved. The Chairman took tlie opportunity of upon the meeting the necessity of 'erecting a shed for the comfort and convenience of the children. He desired to ~pres<- this matter on the new Committee as one of their first duties, and promised 'to do all that he could in furtherance of "'tliis object. He then explained the pro--visions of the new Act with regard to the manner of electing the members of Com--mittee, and called upon the meeting to persons for the office. Thirteen gentlemen were proposed as and a ballot was taken in the visual way, Messrs John Mosley and J. TM'Neur being appointed scrutineers. The following gentlemen were returned -and duly elected, viz.:— Messrs Robert M'Kinlay, "Robert Byers, William Alfred" Mosley, Peter Lawson, James Petrie, -John Watt, and Robert M'Cracken. The Chairman then read tlie notice "fixing the first meeting of the Committee 'for Friday first. Mr Mosley called the attention of the "meeting to the constitution of tlie Board, 'and considered it extremely advisable that the School Committees throughout the Counties of Bruce and Clntha sliould "unite in supporting two of their best local men as their* representatives at fhe District Board.

A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated tlie proceedings.
