MATAURA SPORTS.
The annual Caledonian games of Ma- , taura Bridge came off on Boxing Day in a field -on the west side of the river, and as j the weather was charming, the turn-Out of both sexes exceeded all expectati6ns. We have seldom seen such harmony and good feeling prevailing. All seemed to, enter into the. spirit of the different competitions. The utmost good order was maintained throughout through the managing Committee, and the efficiency of Mr Ettridge, the Secretary. Mr Cameron, of the Mataura Hotel, "acted 'as chief tan, -who appeared on the ground in Highland costume. A ball took place at night. The prizes are as follows : — Quoits. — Six entries, lst, 80s, Wm.
