SOUTH MOLYNEUX ROAD BOARD.
■9 j The ordinary monthly mpeting- of the* above Board was held in the Hoard's ! office on Wednesday, 81st October. I here were present : Messrs Hendeisou (Chairman), Jowirr, Lt-p?, lirugh, Hay Paterson, Christie, Johnstoi, and Melj ville. The minutes of last meeting* were read and confirmed. A letter was read from tbe Clutha Road Board stating- that it was their intention at an early date to appropriate the road running* through the property of Nathan Veitch under the Public Works Act, and thought it desirable that the South Molyneux Btard should lake similar action. Jt was resolved that the road running 1 through the property of Nathan Veirch, in the dourh Molyneux district, be taken under the Public Works Act, 1876, the Clerk to send the Clutha Road Board copy of resolution. The Clerk read a Solicitor's opinion on the Board's liability to pay half-cost : of fencing- boundary of Purt Molvnmix towns-hip Reserve, stating-that the Board i^ only liable to the extent of the corporate funds in their possession, A letter was read from Mr M'Pliee, Catlins River, complaining- of parties erecting- buildings on the roadiine near hi.-s property. . It was resolved tbat the Clerk write to the parties referred to, requesting 1 thpra to remove the buildings, and also to furnish them with ;» copy <if sections 172 and 173, Otag-o Roads Ordinance, 1871. A letter was read irom Mr A. S. Begg-, calling-attention to the approaches of the bridge over the Omaru, also the state of the water table?. The Inspector was instructed to g-et the works done. In reference to resolution No. 21 of last, meeting-, the Subdivision members reported that only one tender had been received for repairs of bridge, from Mr John Wylie — amount, I/JO 5s — and that they had accepted his tender. One tender was received from Mr James Miller for contract No. 120, Ahurlri. Amount of tender, L 8 15s. — Accepted. . Four tenders were received for contract No. 121, Wai r eppka subdivision. It was movd by Mr Melville and seconded by Mr ChnVie, that the tenders be opened. Mr Jowitt moved, and Mr Flay seconded, an amendment to the effect that, the specifications not havingheen drawn out according to the Board's instructions, the tenders he not opened, and that the Inspector make out fresh specifications, the Clerk to call for j tenders for nf»xt meeting*. The amendmpnt was carried. ' The Inspector ovas instructed to G*et the water tables- cleaned out and culverts repaired in the Puerua, Ahunri, and Port Molyneux subdivisions, the Clerk to call for tenders for the same for next meeting 1 . It was resolved on the motion of Mr Jowitt, seconded by Mr Melville, that j all advertisements calling- for tenders : for contracts be made public in the j usual manner, unless the Clerk get i special instructions from the Board.- .
