On Satin-day morning 1 last, the Kb. 2 Clutha Rifles competed for their challenge cup, and also fired a match with the West Taieri company. The ranges for the cup (a handicap match) were 200, 400, and : 500 yds. ; and for the match with the Taieri company, 200, 400, 500, and 600 yds ., so that the same score for the first three ranges counted in both matches. Sergeant James Hogg is the winner of the cup for the third time with the. magnificent scoro of 55, and he. also makes the grand score of 75 out of a possible 80, at the : four. ranges.,.' against the scores, on the ground that tho marking was unfair, as several shots which were supposed to be misses were marked as outers, and there were supposed to be boo many bull's-eyeß made at six hundred' pards. We have not received the detailed jcores yet from the Taieri, but then ro'jrogate score is 484 as against 543 for fcne local company. The scores are :
