SOUTH MOLYNEUX ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held in the' Board's office- on Thursday, 27th, September-. There were present :,, Messrs Henderson(Chairman), Jowitt, Smith, M'Lean-, M'Kenzie,/; Hay- > Brugh, Paterson-, Christie, Melville, and Steven. The' minutes of the previous meeting were read and, confirmed. . '
The Committee appointed at last meeting to examine and report on A-. Balloch's application, gave in- their re* port, recommending the Board .hot to spend any money on the road ih question. — Report adopted. - *>• The, same. Committee reported that they had visited tile' works on road hear Latimore's, and recommended the Board to take no action in the matter.

A letter was read from Ai. Mercer, Puerua, stating that Mr Banks was willing* to give him a gate ort his side of the -post if, it could not be got on the other. —Lett to Air Paterson to arrange witli Mr Banks.-
A copy of lease from Mr Henderson, solicitor, was read. — Resolved that thd lease be approved' of, and that tenders be called for the leasing of a portion of the Port Molyneux township reserve.. Read a letter from the managers of the four banking institutions at Balclutha, declining to tender, for the Board's account. — The letter was received.
Three tenders were received for contract No. 117, Ahuriri :— James Millerlv
L 53 3s; David Wright, L 49 12s 6dj' Isaih Potika, M 5 10s. — Tender of Isaiah Potika was accepted. Two tenders received for contract No. 118, Puerua :— Daniel M'Laren-, LSO 12s; Peter Wright, L 57 15.— Peter Wright's tender accepted. Three tenders received for contract No. 119, Catlins ---Richard Crews, LlOtf 14s lid; Peter Wright, L 75 ; James Roger, L 67 10s.— James Roger's tender accepted.- .
A letter was read from Mr John H. Jenkinson, asking if the Board intended to carry out the formation and opening of the road through sections 11 and 12-, block ir., South Molyneux district. In the event of the Board not using the road, he suggested that the land taken should revere to him by purchase. He also requested that the Board would again consider the expediency of making the block road from the brick cottage to Mr Crawford's land.
It was resolved — Ist. That in the event of Mr Jenkinson offering to repurchase the piece of land sold by him to the Board at the original price, the Board will take the same into its consideration. Snd. That in the event of the above re-purchase taking place, the Board will expend the money received on the block road from the brick cottage to Mr Crawford's land, on the condition that Mr Jenkinson repeat his offer made to the Board in his letter dated 15th September, 1874.
A letter was read from Mr Lees, tendering his resignation as member for Catlins River.
Mr Paterson said he did not know Mr Lees'* reasons for resigning his seat, and he was certain he expressed the wish of every member, when he asked Mr Lees fo withdraw his resignation and keep his seat*, as the Board could ill afford to lose his services.
After a few remarks from Mr Jowitt, Mr Lees agreed to withdraw his resignation.
Mr M'Kenzie reported that the road near the Landing, in Catlins River, was in a very bad state, and hoped that something would be done to make it passable.
The road referred to being a County road, it was resolved that Mr Jowitt be requested to bring* it before the County Council meeting. Mr Melville reported that the roadway at- -Barratra bridge (river bank road), was being washed away, and something would have to be done immediately to protect the .bridge. : . It was resolved that Mr Brugh and the "Inspector examine the same, and call:' for [tenders.,
