A Russian force has crossed the Danube at the Iron Gate Pass, and reached Janiboli. There is a rapid advance ofthe Russians on to Adrianople, in consequence of the defeat of the advance guard of Sulieman Pasha's army at Karabunas. Sulieman remains at Adrianoplo. The Turkish troops are evacuating Philippopolis. The Herald's special correspondent says it _is believed a crisis in the war is imminent. July 28. The grayest fears are entertained that the Christians at Stamboul will bo massacred. The Consuls are appealing to the Ambassadors of the Great Powers to intervene. Wheat firm : Now Zealand, 55s to 60s. New Zealand flax holders ask full rates. Tlio quantity of wool admitted for next sales is 303,205 bales, and includes arrivals per Opawa, Hurunui, City of Auckland, Ivakaia, Waipawa, Waitotara, May Queen, and Adamant.
