Original Correspondence.

•9 • BAILWAY MANAGEMENT. TO THE EDITOU. Sir, — T would suggest to the storekeepers of Baiclutha and other towns along the Clutha line that they organise a Company of carriers to convey goods between here and Dunedin. At present it often takes a week to get. goods from town, and by waggons we used, before the railway started, to have goods delivered in two days. With waggons we could have the same again, or even in one day, if necessary by changing horses. Such a Company might also turn their attention to the Kaitangata coal, which at present cannot he got in the Clutha. I am sure the settlers would support such a Company, for I have frequently known them come long distances for coal and have to return with empty drays. What are the Directors ot the Kaitangata Coal Company about that they do not do something to put things to rights ? I have heard ih said that there is a scarcity of trucks, but that is all bunkum. I believe it would be the same if there were double the number of trucks on hand. It is not more trucks we wanb but better management. But in order to encourage the formation of such a company as I have referred to, I would mention that the County Councils have now commenced to do. away with the tolls. This would be a great assistance, and the goods could then be delivered both quicker and cheaper by waggonH. — I am, &c., . CIiTJTHA..
