Messrs Maclean Brothers report for the week ending June 6, as follows : — Fat Cattle. — A moderate supply of 141 head was yarded for this day's market, the quality being fair to very prime throughout. Price? advanced fully 2s 6d per lOOibs, and all the cattle found buyers. Bullocks fetched from £8 10s to £14 ; cows, £7 to fill— or equal to 27s 6d to 30s for prime, and 25s for ordinary, per lOOibs. At the yards we sold, on account of Messrs Wallace, Andrews, Henderson, and M'Pherson Brothers, 45 head at quotations, and privately we have sold 25 head. Fat Calves. — 24 wei-e penned, which fetched from 25s to 70s each, according to quality. Fat Sheep. —1839 were penned, all of superior quality, in fact, taken all round, the best lot that has been offered during the past six months. Nearly all were disposed of at 9s 3d to 16s 9d for cross-breds, or equal to 2nd per lb for best quality. A few merinos sold at 5s 6d each. At the yards and privately we sold 400. Store Cattle continues in fair request, and at country sales (see report below) we have sold several lots at from £4 to £7 lOs, according to age and condition. . , Country Sales. -r-We held a clearing sale at Mr

James Todd's farm, Spring Bank, East Taieri, on 31st ult. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was spirited, more especially so for the dairy cattle and horses, which were of really excellent quality. Draught brood mares brought from £31 to £117 ; young draught stock, £15 to £42 ; dairy cows, £6 15s to £12 5s j machinery, implements, &c, very satisfactory prices. At Inverted, on the Ist inst., on account of W. R. Thomson, Esq., we held a sale of . horses, cattle, implements, &c, which waa well attended by settlers in the district. Cattle, implements, &c., brought very satisfactory prices, but some of the horses, which were really superior, and for which fancy prices were expected, were withdrawn. Wool. —Advices from the Home market by the mail to hand (3rd inst.,) are not by any means encouraging, and the cablegrams of recent date I tend to confirm previous reports of prevailing dullness of trade. Under date, 3rd June, wool j is reported as "quieter than at the opening sales. 12,0(JO bales have been withdrawn." In this market no business has been done during the week. Sheepskins. —Notwithstanding the adverse reports of the Home wool market, skins were competed for with spirit at the weekly sales on Monday last, and full prices were obtained. Butchers' green cross-breds made from 3s to 3s 3d; merinos, 2s to 2s 6d; dry skins, ls 9d to 4s (id each ; and in bales, s|d per lb. Hides. —Wo offered none at Monday's sale. The demand is active, and good sound wet salted may be quoted at 4d per lb. In exceptional cases a higher rate has been obtained, but the above is market value. Tallow. —We have sold none at auction, but privately have placed 10 tons mutton, at £33 to to £34 per ton —demand good. Grain. —Wheat continue* exceedingly firm for ordinary qualities, and superior, owing to scarcity, has advanced. We quote prime afc 6s 9d to 6s 10 £d; ordinary, 6s to 6s 3d; inferior, 5s to 5s 9d. Stocks very light. Oats have also advanced. Transactions, however, have been very limited in extent, and quotations are therefore for the most part nominal. Ordinary feed commands 3s to 3s 3d ; milling is held at 3s 4d to 3s 6d, but no sales at these prices have transpired. Barley —Good bright malting is scarce, and would command up to os ; ordinary, 4s 3d to 4s 6d ; discoloured, 3s 9d to 4s j feed and milling, 2s 9d to 3s 3d.
