SOUTH MOLYNEUX DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board wa:. hold iv the Hoard's Cilice, Port Molyneu::, on Thursday. 3?th July. There were present : Messrs Jowitt. Brugh, M'Lay, Christie, Steven. -Melville, Sutherland, l'-itterson. and O Henderson, who, in the absence of the Chairman, presided.
The minutes of last meeting having been read and confirmed,
The Treasurer read the balance-sheet and statement of the Board's account*?, made un to June 30, 1876", and certified as correct by the Auditor. It was resolved thnt they lie in the. oflice for in-
spection by those interested until the annual meeting, to be held on the 10th August.
A letter from the Provincial Ti'easurer was read, stating* that the sum of LS-IS 12s 2d had been placed to the credit of the Board in the National Bank of New Zi-aland, Balclutha, being the subsidy from Provincial Government on general rate.
The Committee appointed at last meeting to examine the river hank road gave in a written report, recommending the Board to accept Mr Steven's offer to give an txchange of ground on the river bank for the block lines, provided Mr Telford would grant land for the continuation of the road. The Committee also recommended that a portion of the road be era veiled.
Five tenders were received for contract No. 60, Port Molyneux subdivi-
sion, ns follow : — James Miller, Ll7 19s; Thomas Kirkwood, Ll7 ; Gavin Whitfield. L 3 3; James M'Minn, LIS 10s; Peter Abernethy, L2-L Thomas Kirkwood's tender was accepted. Three tenders were received for contract No. 8-5, Port Molvneux :— George Balloch, Lll 10s; Gavin Whitfield, L 7 10s; Robert Shiels, L 5 lis. The teuclar of R. Shiels was accepted.
Five tenders were received for contract No. SO, Port Molvneux : — Thos. Kirkwood, 1,37; James Miller, L 39 3s ; Robert Crawford, L 33 10s ; Gavin Whitfield, LOG ; James M'Minn, L 65. Tho tender of Robert Crawford was accepted.
One tender was received, and accepted, from James M'Minn, for contract No. 87, Ahuriri subdivision, — L 27.
One tender was received for contract No. SB, Ahuriri, from James M'Minn, for L2l : accepted.
Three tenders were received for contract No. 00, Puerua >.«bdivision : — William Morton, L 39 10s ; Allison ancl Dobson, L' 2? 12s; Peter Abernethy, L 32. The tender of Allison and Dobson was accented.
One tender wns received from A Alli?on, and accepted, for contract No. SO, Puerua,-— amount, LO 2s Bd.
A letter was read from Mr M'Kenzie, Catlins River, to Mr Lees, a member of the Board, stating' thai logs were being hauled over the road between the Catlins Hotel and tbe Big Mill. It was referred to the members of thafc subdivision, for a report at next meeting. The Treasurer reported that he had received the sum of 1.28 Os Gd from the settlers in the Ahuriri subdivision, as their subscription towards forming the Kororo creek road. It was resolved th-.Jt the Inspector, along with Mr M'Lay, lay off' the work, to the amount of L4G, and call for tenders to be in at next meeting.
A tatter was read from Mr A. Roscoe, Puerua, (on behalf of himself and neighbors,) calling the attention of the Board to the state of the road opposite Mr Dobsou's property, and requesting that ifc be made passable to some extent. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Roscoe that the subdivision had no funds at present for the vtork
The Inspector was instructed to get the bridge at Mercer's creek, Puerua, repaired, and also to lay off works in the Ahuriri and Port Molyneux subdivisions, the Clerk fco call for tenders for same before nex'c meeting. The Board then adjourned to Wednesday, August; 16, that being the date of the annual statutory meeting of the Board,— an ordinary meeting to be held immediately after the annual one.
