CLINTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

{To the Editor of the Clutha Leader.) Sm, — I wish to say in reply to Mr. Lange's letter in your last issue, that the statement of your correspondent, which he quotes and affirm^ to.be incorrect, is quite correct. I have no, wish to know how your correspondent received his information. J wish, how-, ever, to affirm that to the best of my. knowledge his statement is strictly, accurate. The public will excuse me if I refuse to believe that the committee through its secretary " have not misrepresented facts" Their statement to, the Education Board, in my judgment, is a tissue of misrepresentation, e_> aggeration, and falsehood. That is my. opinion, and with my knowledge of all the facts of the case, I am in a.better. position to form a judgment in the, matter than those who have been, writ^. ing on the subject without all tlie fact« s of the case before them. It would -serve, no good purpose now to go into de-* tails. Having a good conscience in. this affsiir, I can the more easily hear; the reproaches.of those who believe, Mr. Lange's testimony in preference to mine. That he. wrote as he did I regret; but that I have done any thing inconsistent with my character as a Christian and.^ Christian minister, I - deny. . . ■;. . Mr Lange says, " The committee ad* here to the aotion they, were compelled to take j" who compelled them, ? : ; They were asked to give !t_eir ; reasons for preferring one candidate it> another, 5 = they replied by giving^ of my conduct !";;■.
