To the Editor. • We hail with plessure the advent of the CiiUxnA Leader. The time has fully arrived when this large and advancing district should have a local journal through whose medium its interests and requirements can be fully represented .and advocated. Balclutha bas of late made rapid strides in. adding to its population and extending its proportions. The construction of railways on all sides is a sure indication that this town will advance with greater rapidity ♦hah it has hitherto done. The exfeusivo farming districts adjoining Balclutha are also. carrying on great improvements in tbe various sections of agriculture, such as fencing, reclaiming, and subdividing paddocks for grazing purposes, and as the ; price of grain hpl-is firm, greater advances in improvements may be looked for, arid a better development of the repourct-s of. the district. The importance of the district aud its require..mente call for the establishment of a local organ amongst us; po that it is almost a duty incumbent upon the settlers of the surrounding districts to. come forward and heartily support and patrom«e the Leader, The first issue ia a most creditable production, and the honorable , principle* on which the enterprise is lo be conducted corsnot but commend its perusal by the ' public.—I am, &c, Reader. Inch Clntba, July 13.
