■ AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. A Canadian turkey intended for the Christmas dinner of the crew of the ship Waitomo was an exhibit in the Police Court today when Lawrence McKinnon, aged 21, a member of the e'rew who was charged with theft pleaded not guilty. The poliee said on Christmas Eve the gatekeeper stopped one of two men leaving King's Wharf. This man said a sack which he carried contained beer, but in it was found a frozen turkey. . They later left the wharf and subsequently the gatekeeper found the turkey under a cover on the wharf. The gatekeeper today said McKinnon was not the man who carried the turkey.* McKinnon detailed his movements on Xmas Eve and three crew members confirmed his evidence. The magistrate, Mr. J. Morling, dismissed the charge.
