NOTHING CAN BE DONE FOR THREE YEARS
WELLINGTON, Dee. 29. Leaders of the dairy industry in Wellington to whom the message was referred tonight, pointed out that New Zealand, having contracted to sell all its dairy exports to the British Govern-; ment, diseussions between New Zealanders and representatives of the disIributing organisations in Britain could not lead to anv practical decisions. ' The distribution of produce was con- J trolled by the British Ministry of Food. : It was suggested that the purpose of J the .visit was to maintain goodwill in expectation of direct dealiiig between New Zealand organisations and distrituting organisations in Britain being resumed when the contract runs out three years hence. The visitors would not be empowered to discuss any4 ehange in arrangements though their opinions would be listened to with interest. The manager of the National Dairy Association, Mr. C. II. Backhouse, said Mr. Maxwell and the other men were not coming to New Zealand on any business connected with the National Dairy Association but on belialf of tho New Zealand Produce Association, the distributing organisation in Britain.
