A bag containing £645 mostly jn £5 and £1 notes was lost and recovered in Lower Hutt yesterday. An officer of the State Advances Corporation had collected. rents from the occupants of State houses in the Naenae area and was' taking them by car into Lower Hutt to bank. When he arrived at Lower Hutt he was without the bag. Mr. W. U. Wheeler, caretaker of the Horti* cultural Hail, found the money and took it to the police .station , and there a grateful State AdI vances officer eoUected it late in the afternoon.
