SYDNEY, Dec. 22. The Liberal and Country eandidates for the Senate have so far received 5 per cent more votes than the Labpur eandidates. ' The chief Commonwealth electoral officer (Mr V. Turner) said last night that the Senate figures gave a more accurate picture of the party voting than the House of Representatives' flgures. With 4,686,010 votes counted and only about 1 per cent of the ballot papers to come in, the percentages are as follow: — Liberal and Country Party .. 45.9 Labonr : . » • • • 40-1) Communists * • 1*9 Others 3.5 Informal • • 8,8 Only in South Australia has Lgbour recorded a liigher senate vote than the Liberal and Country Party group. The State figures of the Liberal and Country Party and Labour voting are as follow: —
The Communists received 88.780 votes and pQlled best in Victoria with 3.2 per- cent of the total votes.
