Car Overturns At Makerua
•' A light car ran off the road and pverturned' after crossing a bridge on the Shannon-Makerua highway at about 12.40 p.m. yesterday. The vehicle was damaged but the 'occupants were fortunate in escaping serious injury. The driver of the car was Mr. A. E. Denny, of Sandringham, Auckland, and he was accompanied byhis wife and daughter. The party was on its way to Wellington for the Christmas holidays. The ibridge on which the ac.cident -occurred is situated about half-a-mile from the Makerua railway station and is over a disused tram line. Its steep approaches have been the cause of many similar accidents.
