Record Entries For Otaki's Annual Sports
Record entries have :been received by the Otaki ' Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club fpr Itsannual sports meeting to be held on January 7: Notable entrants include record holders D. Batten and D. W. Jowett in the athletic events, ahd also many other performers of note. Entrants for the cycling events include P. Murray and A. and G. Pennington, of Wellington; C. Hollows and G. and N. Pratt, of Palmerston North; D. Smith, of Otaki; and strong representation from Levin and other neighbouring clubs. Those who were privileged to see the exhilarating dispiays-fpf Miss .B. Hili, an Empife- Gamfes nominee, and Miss V. Hare; atiast year's big day will .dQUbtlbss' ;be: pleased to khow that these- iea^p-. able performers intena to compete again at Otaki. The fields fpr'.the ladies' events are an all time high,. as many as 33 entries; haviiig been. received for the 75 - yards . eyent, making four heats necessary." Here again representation from'neigh-. bouring' clubs is very ' strong. .-- Three heats will be "neceSsary .ih the junior 100 yards and- jalso in the open 100 yards. 'All.' events: show large increases on. last year, The open 440 yards has attracted 21, the half mile 25 ahd the mile 20 entries. - ' Cyclipg events see as many as 31 entered for the junior .
