Christmas Poultry Sells Well At Levin Sale
At- the Levin Christmas sale yesterday smafl yardings in all sections except pigs met with keen competition, hoggets and Iambs selling well. A large yarding of porkers again produced keen bid- \ ding from butchers for the Christmas pork trade.. Only vealers were yarded in the fat cattle section, buyers filling their requirements at recent market rates. The usuad yarding of Christmas -poultry was completely cleared. Quotations: — Fat sheep: Prime ewes, 29s ld to 30s 7d; prime we.thers, 42s lOd to 44 7d; prime w.f. hoggets, 42s 4d to 42s lOd; prime b.f. hoggets, 42s 4d to 43s 4d; prime heavy lambs, 45s 7d to 46s 4d; prime do., 41s ld to 42s lOd; prime light do., 35s 4d to 36s 7d. Pigs: Prime porkers, £5 10s to £6 2s; medlum do., £5 to £5 7s; lighter sorts, down to £4. Fat cattle: Prime vealers, £8 12s 6d to £9 17s 6d; medium do., £6 12s 6d to £7: 17s 6d; light Jersey sorts, down to £2 17s 6d. Poultry: Ducks, 3s 6d, 4s 6d, 5s up to 9s; hens, 3s 6d, 4s 6d, 5s 3d up to 8s; geese, 10s, 11s 9d up to 12s 3d.
