Mr. Holland And Party At Dedication Service
AUCKLAND, Dec. 18. Making his first visit to Auckland as political head of the country, the Prime Minister," Mr Holland, accoigipanied by JVlrp Holland and their two daugkters, "Joeelyn and Lois, arrived from Wellington by the Express this morning. Promin^nt officials of the National Party and inearly 50 members of the public were jpreisent .at the ^ailway station to greet ■them. The Prime Minister's chief secretary, Mr K. 'M, Sleight, and his senior stenographer, Miss M. Wevbourne, also travelled with the party. Mr Holland and his family attended a special service of dedication for members of Parliament in the Auckland district, in the historic St. Andrew's Presbyterian Chureh in Lower Symonds Street, at 11 a.m. Abou't 550 worship;pers filled the church to overflOwing and another 150 listened to a relay of the service in adjacent St. Andrew's Hall. In the afternoon the P.rime Minister attended- a tea party tendered-by the Minister of Education, Hon. R. M. Al"gie, and Mrs Algie, at their home in Remuera. An official welcome wili be extended to Mr Holland at a public meeting arranged by the Auckland division of the National Party, in the ;Town Hall at 12.30 p.m. tomorrow. He' and his family will be guests of honour at- a civic at home-in the Town Hall ; tomorrow night. The Prime Minisfer will be present at the annual. orize-giv-ing ceremony at King's 'ColJege, Middlemore, tomorrow afternoon. The . balance of his time in Auckland will be ; taken up with receiving deputations. He will return to Wellington by air on . Tuesday morning.
