CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 18. Two persons were seriously burued in au explosion aboard the cruising launch Arab in Lyttelton on Saturday evening They are: Merle Cunningham, aged 18, of Jerrold. Street/. Addington; and NoeJ Hughes, aged 21, of Norwich Street, Linwood, who were admitted to the Burwood Hosiiital. flie explosion is believed to liave bee.n caused bv leakage into the bilges of gas from a cooking sto've. Some damage was caused ro the launch and' tlie fire whieh broke out. was extinguished by the owner, Mr. hi. Ci. .ningjiam, father of Merle . Gunningtfam.
