DROWNED WHILE AQUAPLANING.
AUCKLAND, *Dec. 18. Failing oft' Ihe board wlnle aquaplaning in Tauranga harbour yesteiuay afternoon, a Wellington plumber was drowned. He was: — HauCLD .JCSEPH CCNCH1E, aged. 30, singie, of Jessie Street, V\ elling ton, whose parents live in Napier. Ilis body had nol been recovered late today. . Mr. Conchie was being towed by the Tauranga launch Nevada when ; he appeared to get into diflieulties ofi the Mount be&ch and fell off the board. The Nevada was put about iiuniediateJy and although it passed 'over the . spoi wherc Mr. Conchie disappeared, he was not found. A number of spectators on the beacli and launch were watcliing the aquaplanmg. The accident oecurred in the Tauranga channel whi.ch is swept at tiines by a strong current.
