Another Win To Levin In Cricket Competition
After defeating ; Weraroa,- the leaders in the Horowhenua Cricket Association's senior ^competition, ,ast week, Levin went on to claim laurels when they gained a decisive victory over Paraparaumu ' on Saturday. The Levin batsman to get among the runs was W. Galloway, who retired with a magnificent century which included four sixes and eight f ours. Paraparaumu had the first use of the wicket and were all out for 97 runs, to which Fitton (19)' was the main contributor. Others to reach double ffgures were Snell (15), Reeve (12) and Jordan (10).. Bowling for Levin, Miller claimed four wickets at a cost of 24 runs, Lambert thrge for 38 and Hudson three for 11. Levin's' innings yielded the impressive total of 240. Galioway's 101 was supported by Lambert (34) , Miller (28) , Wyness (20) , Hudson (18 not Out) and Buck- : j ingham (15). In the bowling four wickets fell to Reeve at a cost of 28 runs. Keogh claimed three for 34 and" Snell one -for 30. Old Boys Beat College. A margin of 48 runs gave Old Boys th'e honours in their match against College. Oid Boys batted ffrst and compile'd> 117 runs, the feature of the innings being . an excellent 59 by N. Sciascla. Frederikson (121 and Judd (10) were the other. double figure scorers. Bowling for College, Maclean to'ok three for " 15, Hamilton four f or . 38 and Andrews ' three for 24. Coilege replied with 69. Lang turried . in a steady. knock to make 29 'before being dismissed, while McEwen coiitributed 12. Bowling for Old Boys, McClune . accounted for five wickets at a cost of ,11 runs and Barrau'd two for 26.
Fiye-Point Win To Foxton. A handsome total of 178 runs for nine wickets gave Foxton the t decision in their- match against Weraroa on Saturday. Weraroa had the first use of the wicket and were 'all out for 104, the main contributor being J. Ryder with a useful 42. The other batsmeh to attain double figures were I. Norton (36) -and Nicholls (13). The only other batsman. to open his account was Weller, who was caught after hitting a single. . Bowling for Foxton, Carmont came to the fore to- collect five wickets for 20 runs, Ryburn three for 24 and Mohekey one for 12. Williams, who retired with 53 runs, gave Foxton a good lead in their innings. He was followed closely hy Carmont with 49. Others to get among the runs were Astwood (33) and Wails (16). In the bowling O'Donnell took three wickets at a cost of 25.. -runs, Saunders three for 42 and Martm one for 9.
