Levin School Concludes Its Year's Activities
The Levin Primary School held its break-up ceremony on- Friday m the school grounds. Among . those present were the chairman of the School Committee, Mr..A. C. Kennerley, Mr. F.- O ■ Malcolm, j representing the Horowhenua Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Cltib, and the headmaster, Mr. H. F. McClune, who takes up his duties again next year after having . completed his term as a. relieving inspector for the. Wellington Education Board / ' He was -pleased to be back. again, said Mr. McClune,. after being welcomed by the acting headmaster, Mr. P. D. Chapman. "I would like to thank you all for the way you have carried on while I have been' away. I never worried because I knew you would all do your work with the help and co-operation of a fine lot of teachers. To the standard VI pupils who will be leaving us I wish every success. I feel they really belong to me, as I have seen most of them through their education from primer 1 upwards." In conclusion, Mr. McClune extended best wishes for the festive season to the teachers 'and children. On behalf of the School Committee, Mr. Kennerley extended greetings to the .children and wished all those who were going up to different classes and those proceeding to .college all the best and success for the future. "I trust you will remember this primary ' school where you received the foundation of your education," he added. . A well-known figure to the school children, Patrol Officer R. Keenan, of the Automobile Association ■ (Wellington), in a short address, stressed the necessity for the observance of the safety rules of the road by the children during the Christmas holidays. portant of all, a safe one. Mr. Keenan then presented eertificates of merit to those members of the school patrol who' were leaving for college. To members of the Boys' . and Girls' Agricultural Club, Mr. F. O. Malcolm, the next speaker, said that as this work had been done by the members in their own time the club had decided to give a small gift to all who had participated, even though they might not have gained placings in the competjtion. He trusted all would cohtinue to take an interest in the club and that even more would join next year. In a tribute to Mr. C. E. Wiseley, the club's secretary, Mr. Malcolm said that his departure from the school next year would be a great loss to the club and he thanked him for his efforts. . He then presented the eertificates won by members and a, box. of chocolates to each entrants in the competition.
