Personal. Mrs. J. B. Ward, of the Otaki School staff,..- will be spending the holidays in Dunedin. e. Mr. and Mrs. A. Freemanj of' Otaki "Beach, are weekend visitors to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Wilson, of Main Street, leave on Monday for an extended holiday. They will visit Napier, Gisborne and Te Puia Springs. The Rev. J. G. S. and Mrs. Dunn, of Wadestown, will be visiting Otaki for the holiday vacation. They will occupy the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Wilson. Bowling Pemiants Points. Points to date in the Welling- • ton Bowling Centre's country pennants are as follows: — Senior: iOtaki Raiiway 5, Otaki 5, Raumati South 4, Paraparaumu Beach 4, Waikanae Beach 3, Plimmerton 1, Paekakariki 0. Intermqdiate : Paraparaumu Beach 5, Raumati 'South 5, Waikanae Beach B 5, Plimmerton 2, Otaki 2, Otaki Raiiway 1, Paekakariki 1, Waikanae Beach A 1. A Busy Night. Wednesday offered ample vanety fot those who take part in the afYairs of the town with no fewer than eleven attractions to foe patronised. Evening sports, a Christmas party, a lodge break-up, the council meeting, a card evening, the quarterly meeting of the Qtaki Fire Board, two marehing meetings, a bowling meeting and an athletic club meeting were all on. If none of these called then there was still the' pictures.

Escapees Surrendel*. The report that two experienced pig-hunters had lost their Christmas suclang pigs created quite a stir locally, and numerous hopefuls have looked forward to profiting -by the. loss. Now comes word that things have been sorted out to the muxual satisfaction of the owners and the pigs. Evidently tired of 'roaming "wild" in "civilIsed" haunts, the escapees literally gave themselves up, ' greturning voluntarily to the vicinity of the sty from which they made their ■ escape earlier. So great was the interest shown and the number of searchers, that the "prize" was placed under guard, with the ; hunters hopeful now that they , will toe able to do their captives ! well on Christmas Efciy.
