King Still Hopes To Visit New Zealand
. Received Saturday, 12.30 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 16. "The Queen and I greatly regret that it was not possible for us to visit Australia and New Zealand this year as we had hoped," said the King today in his speeeh proroguing the 1948-49 session of Parliament. "However, I look forward to the time. when I shall have the opportunity of meeting again my peoples in those parts of the Commonwealth." The King said that the long session now ending had been marked by a continuance of the economic ditficulties with which Britain had been confronted since the end of the war: Fortunately there was work for ail and through the sustained efforts of the British people I a notable increase in production I had been achieved.
