Hostility to Italia^s in Eritrea
ASMaRA, Dec. 13. Severa] Eritreans threw five hand grenades at the main gate of the Britisli Information Service offices last night, but none of the grenades exploded. Dr. Djalma Mutti, an Italian, was wounded by a buliet fired by an Eritrea n who ran down the street firing at random. Earlier today all Italian journalist? jn Asmara with Reuter's eorrespondent and a British information ofSeer, received letters warning them not to interfere with the " people 's aim to link up with the mother country of Ethiopia." The British Administration imposed a eurfew today after Dr. Mutti died Eollowing tre attack ou him last night. All local Italian and vernacular newspapers have been suspended until furbher notice. The ban- on the papers 4s ntended to prevent the Press from ' idding to the feelingtf of the rival t politicalparties. A message from Rome ^ays the ftalian Foreign Minister (Count 3forza) announced in Parliament that [taly had appealed to Britain, France' md the United States to act jointly to put an end to the "state of terrorism" n Italy's former colony of Eritrea.
