w * Local dogs still continue to hold their own at distriot meetings and Nigger Boy won his heat in the Carey Cup at Palmerston North recently and then the final by flve lengths. Unluckily for 'his connections, a re-run was ordered *and this-fine performer then finished second. He had won the Carey Cup and held it for the previous twelve months. so the rerun was , 'doubly unfortunate. Lady Nahleen won the Maiden Flat very comfortably at Foxton, and this 14-months-old pup shows a lot of promise. . In the puppy. race, under two years, Black Pool Sam met five good dogs. A little large in condition as a result of not having races recently, he had to he content with a very close second, being beaten by a short nose. Palluna jumped out clear in the Limit Flat and was never headed, winning by several lengths from the Masterton visitor, Tradition, who is rated as among the best in New Zealand. Local owners are looking forward to competing with some fair measure of success at Trentham on December 26 and 28, and at the Foxton championships on December 31.
