Big Blackfish Washed Up On Ohau Beach

For the second time in recent years a biackfish has been washed up on the beach at the mouth of the Ohau River. According to information tendered yesterday by residents at- the beach, the fish has been dead for some time. , The "Chronicle's" informant was of the opinion that biackfish were not uncommon in the waters around these parts, although one encyclopaedia states that the fish is usually caught off the rocky shores around the New England coast, which is many thousands of miles from New Zealand. "The biackfish, which is a small species of the whale, is of considerable size and usually about 20 feet in length. The estimated length of the fish washed up at Ohau Beach is between 20 aiid 22 feet.
