Personal, Mrs. V. Guerin, of Kingston Roa4, has returned home after undergoing an operation in the" Palmerston North Ho'spital. *s The friends of Mjbs M. Simes, of Mangaore, will be pleased to hear that she is progressing very favourably after her reeent operation and hopes to retirrn home within the ' next few days. ; , Mr. K.. Henry, who was employed at the Mangaore Power Station some years ago, was a -visitor to Shannon over the weekend and took the opportunity of renewing old acquaintances. Mrs. R. R. Lind, of Vance Street, is at present an inmate of a Palmerston North private hospitai, where she is making good progress following an operatiop to her foot. Bowling Notes. Highlight of last weekend's activity on the Shannon Bowling Club's green was a visit from two rinks of the Kelburn (Wellington) Club. Weather was ideal and a most enjoyable day was spent. The local green is now in perfect condition and almost every evening sees 7a good gathering of members. It is expecte'd that the holiday season will see the green used to' capacity, as the Jhflux of. visitors to the town always includes a large proportion of followers of the sport. Boat Race Entries. It is not known whother Shannon .will have an entry in the Palmerston North to Foxton boat race .to be held over the holiday period. However, entry forms are available from the town clerk's offlce. This year's event will be the Manawatu Boating Club's third annual •fixture and it is expected that there will be good entries in all classes. It is understood that a sports fixture is to be arranged at the Shannon Bridge to eombine with the arrival of the boats on the first stage of the race.
