Points Agreed On For Air Race To New Zealand
CHRIST GHURCH, Dec. 13. The international air race from Eng- r land to Christchurch in 1953, wili start about October 10. Entries will close on January 31, 1953, These points were agreed on at diseussions in London recently between che Royal Aero Club racing committee and the Canterbury international air race council representatives. Report on their discussions in Australia and Britain, was given to the rouncil this evening by the president, Mt. II. D. Chris'tie, and seeretary-treasurer, Mr. A. B. W. George, Other points agreed on included n prize money, control of race and route. The prizes will total £30,000 and will be divided equally between two sections of the race, transport handicap section and speed section. There will be lirst prizes of £10,000, seeond prizes of £3000, third prizes of £1000 and fourth prizes 'of £500. The remaining £1000 will be allocated for cups and trophies. ' The race will be started from aerodromes or bases in England and will be controlled by the Royal Aero Club "«s far as and including Singapore. Control points will be established at Basra, Calcutta, Singapore and a point to be decided on,. bn the east coast of Australia. ' ■ " ■
