Shannon's Parking Problems Solved
Although Shannon is not considered a very large town, it has had its parking problems in the past, especially on a Friday night when motorists from all parts of the district c.ome to town for shopping and entertainment. Traffic conjestion along Plimmer Terrace and Ballance Street->will now be overcome by the painting in of vehiele bays. Early on Monday morning Traffic Officer D. W. S. Boyes, of Levin, assisted by the borough staff, commenced the big task of markihg out the parking bays "and the painting was almost completed in the evening. Motorists will now have to exercise care in seeing that they park within the lines of the bays and do not choose a "no parking" area, a fireplug or a taxi stand. The town clerk, Mr. J. T. Bovis, stated., yesterday that the parking regifratibns ' 1 Tiad >%e&ns sen¥orced to assist the motorist as Well as the pedestrians. As long as the regulations were adhered to, . no difficulties would arise out of the improvement to the system. •'
