Holiday Motoring.
Nearly a million and a half miles of travelling are covered in tours maps issued by the Auckland offlce of the Automobile Associa-. tion during September, October and November. This is an in-. crease of 100,000 miles on last year's figures. Motorists seemed to he making their hoiiday plans eariier this year, said the touring manager, Mr. R. E. Qhamptaloup, today, as the November figures ; were down on last year. Scout Jamboree. It -was announced yesterday by the Dominion headquarters of the Boy Bcputs Association that it has been decided to hold a seout .iafnboree in Canterbury during the Christmas-New Year period 195051. The jamboree wiil be at leasf Dominicn-wide in scopc and ■ efforts are being made to ob,tain for it South Pacific status. It was, also announced that, although senior scouts (boys of 15 ahd over) , scout oflicers, and women cubjnasters may, in tffe United Kingdom, under certaih circumStances, wear berets, the Dominion executive has decided no,t to adopt this alternative form of Ijeadwearan(| accordingiy in New Zealand there* will be no change from the traditional scout hat.
