Tasman Beach W.I. Meets
Perfect weather and visitors from as far afield as Levin and Paekakariki, and an excellent programme combined to make the Tasman Beach Women's Institute's first birthday celebrations an outstanding suceess. Mrs. J. H. McConville, after welcoming the excellent attendance of' visitors, called on the recipients of November birthday greetings, Mesdames E. Adams and T. McClelland, to accept flowers. The programme was opened with two vocal solos by Mrs. S. Ridge. Mrs. A. M. Hawkins followed with two recitations, which were weil received and Mr. W. H. Townrow entertained with very enjoyable vocal solos. Two little girls, Lynette and Isobel Wiliis, won the approbation of all with their dancing duet and they were f.nlled back several times.
A d'elicious aflernoon tea was dispensed. Greetings, together >with beautiful floral tributes.were then presented from sister mstitutes and other organisations. Mrs. . McConville called upon Mrs. H. S. Powell, president of the Southern Wellington Federation, to cut the cake, which had been made by Mrs McConville and beautiiully iced by Mrs. R. Duncan. A comedy was the next ltem on the programme, those taking part being Mesdames McConville and Evans and Miss P. Fogden. Th*8 play was well presented and tne players are to be congratulated on their performances. A very happy afternoon was brought to a close with Lems from the Otaki choir. The December meetmg will take the form of a Chnstmas party to which members may bring a friend. The hostesses will be Mesdames E. Adams and R. Ha, milton.
