Going At Awapuni Cutting Out For Finals
A comparitively small team of Awapuni horses will go -through to Otaki '.iul the conditions .for their final trials were most uiipleasant. There was heavy rain early and showers later. The triai grass was in use for t'ast work but thei going was cutting out and it beeame progressively worse. Oue of the best gallops over a mile was that of Imperial ( J. Harris) ' and Garrv (W. L. Aitken). Tliey coyered tlie distance in 1.49 2-5. They were under a hold earlv but were home wel'l in 41 2-5. Another good effort over a mile was that of Gratuity (V. J. Sellars), Terrifie (B. Wqod) and Play.tos (G. It. Tattersall). Playtos trailed the others to the three where he went into the lead. He still hekl a slight adyantage at the post but all worked well, the time for the mile being 1.50 4-5. ihe last three in 42 3-5. Voltaic (Tattersall) was given a line work out over a mile and a half. Mesalliance 1. Hely) went with hini for the first five easily in 1.12, and Beau Iioemont (J. Iiarris) took over for the last six in 1.24. Voltaic was home smootlily in 40.8-5. Emerge (M. Thurston) was first out and he was given an easy ;six n 1.25'.
His next race will be at Awapuni. Nakura (A. G-. Waddell) was not under pressure over five in -1.10, and Result was steady at 15 to the furlong over six. Silver Sam (Tattersall) worked kindly over a mile in 1.55. Diplomacy (D. CoDins) looked to be going better than Four Star (Tattersall) at the end of three in 39. ■
Levane (W. L. Aitken) worked well over seven in 1.37 2-5, last three in better than 42. Red Flight (L. J. Clutterbuck) and Confetti (W. J. Broughton) wasted little time over seven in 1.7 4-5. Sweet Seventeen (light boy) was in front of Gold Circuit (Clutterbuck) at the end of six in 1.22. They brolte 40 for the first three. Lord Ilolland (Broughton) and Balcairn (Aitken) rau the last three of seven in 4.1 1-5 to complete in 1.33 1-5. Boyhood (Tattersall) was going easiljc with Legendre (Harris) at the end of a mile in 1.56 2-5, last three in 42. Refieet and Servile were going well at the end of a good seven in 1.33 2-5, , last three in 42. Sir Rhodes and Rescind worked over six in 1.24, and Danzarina took 1.23. General Aga (Tattersall) and Ballet (J. Harris) were together with Ballet under pressure at the end of half a inile in 53 3-5.
