"Gross Insult" Will Not Go Unchallenged
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 9. "Mr. Forsyth can rest assured that the gross insult offered by Mr. S. S. Dean to one of the principal offlcers of this association has not passed unnoticed, and will not go unchalienged;" said Mr. Baxter O'Neil, president of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, commenting on a protest made by Mr. D. Forsyth
against remarks made by Mr. Dean at the last meeting of the Olympic Council in Wellington. "We had hoped that the characteristic inanities of Mr. Dean were confined to such errors of ignorance as he exhibited when he criticised our Empire Games officials, but evidently bad taste is not excluded from his repertoire. There is not one member of this association who does not deeply resent his latest crudity," said Mr, O'Neil. Mr. Forsyth's protest was made against Mr. Dean's remark that "every Tom, Dick and Harry" would be wanting to wear the offtcial blazer when the only question toefore the council was the Swimming Association's request that this honour should ihe ac-j corded to Mr. D.
