School Committee Meets
Routine » business occupied the attention of members of the Otaki Schooi Committee when they held their monthly meeting on Tuesday night, presi'ded over by Mr. Hj. Taylor. The headmaster, Mr. H. O. E. Yates, advised that the number on the roil was 421, comprising 214 boys and 207 girls. There had been no changes of the staff during the month. The annual flower 'show and calf judging had been held.at the school on November 18, both events being most successful and showing the keen interest of all pupils. The best calves would be taken to Levin tomorrow for the group judging. "General maintenance work in the grounds and gardens has been carried our during the month," continued Mr. Yates. "The final judging of school and home gardens will take place this week." Mr. Yates expressed thanks to Mr. F. Biney for the donation of cups for the winners of the garden plot competitions and to Mr. W. Heath for donating nearly four dozen named chrysanthemum plants to the school. "On behalf of members of the staff and myself, I wish to convey to all members of the School Committee our grateful thanks for the assistance given to the school throughout the year, and to "ektend to all our very best wishes for the holiday season and the New Year," concluded the headmaster.
