Italian Peasants Invading Big Estates
Received Tuesdav 7" p.m. LONDON, Dec. 6. Land seizures by Italian peasants spread today to the ancient province of Latium, north of Rome, where the estates of some of the greatest Italian families have been invaded, says the Daily Telegraph's Rome correspondent. Marching columns of peasants were followed by the police in riot ears but in some areas the peasant columns were so numerous that the police were unable eitber to turn them back or prevent them from occupying the land. The Times' Rome correspondent says police reinforcements later suceeede'1 in inducing most of the peasants to leave the land peacefully. Rome refuspd to shift and 43 arrests were made but wifhout any serious clashes.
