Car Chase and Arrests At Gun-point
' Reeeived Monday, 7.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 5. • After a chase by wireless patrol cars followed by gunpoint arrests,. the police believe they have four 'men belonging to a gang which for months has speeialised in removing safes from offiee. buildings, taking them some distanee by means of car a.nd trailer, and breaking them open at leisure. . At Helensburgh, 25 miles south of Sydney, a man ran into the police station early today and said he had seen four men leaving a local store with a safe. Five police cars moved in to intercept the eseaping car. When sighted three men jumped from the wanted vehicle which then charged at high speed through the gordon. Deteetives ehased the eseaping men while a* patrol car carried qn after the vehicle. Two men were seized and handcuffed to trees but the third escaped though deteetives fired shots at him. He was found exhausted three miles away by another search party. Meanwhile the car was forced to the roadside and its dxiver arrested.
