A prisoner wiio eseaped from the Waikune prison farm on November 16 and was reeaptured on Thursday evenving at Waitoa where he was working "at a dairy factory, made a further bid for freedom today when he dislodged ihe wind'ow bars from the Oeli in' whrcli; he ' was eonfiied af the Te "Aroha police station. The ConstabJe .arrested him and. he appeared today in the Police Court v^here he was seiiteneed to a further six mo'nth's imprisonment. Sergeaht Doei, of Te Aroha, escorted the prisoner to the eells and loeked him up while arra'ngements were made to transfer him to Auckland. When t.He sergeant returned he found the window bars removed and the prisoner missing. A widespread seareh eoncentrating on tthe swamp area was made by the police from Te Aroha, Halnilton, Morrinsville and Paeroa, as well as 15 c'iviiianSi Constable Carson saw Dixon hiding in a patch of serub and a' cordon wa?, formed around tho area.. Dixon attempted to break through, but was hel.d. He was taken to Hamilton under close escort for the night and he will be transferred to Auckland tomorrow.
