Parents' Day At Horowhenua College
"I hope that >ou will get somei thing from your vigif that is worth while," said the principal of Horowhenua College, Mr. N. A. Byrne, ;when addressing parents. and friends at, -the annual parents' day gathering at the college yesterday afternoon. Pupils attended the school from such- a wide- area that it was impossible for the staff of the college to get to know parents during the year, contih.ued the principal. However, parents' day, besides being- an occasion when work was exhibited, provided' parents , with the opportunity -of meeting the- staff. ■ Mr, Byrne extended a welcome to • those present. and • said that the staff would derive much pleasur& from meeting the parents and would be pleased to- discuss the progress of their children with them. The offlcial fuhction began in the assembly hafl, where visitors were entertained with a sho-rt musical prpgramme by the sehool. Under the- conductorship oi Miss A. Broiwning the students sang two brackets of songs and carols. A newljy-formed string ; orchestra played two brackets. At the piano Miss L. Th.orn assisted the orchestra and Anne Dickson the school choir. M the co-nclusion. of the items the visitors were shown the various. exhibitiQn.s of work. Afternoon tea was provided by. -the home science classes of the college.
