Racing Inquiry: Two Men Warned Off
ADELAIDE, Nov. 29. A sensational raeing inquiry resulted in the South Australian Jockey Club Committee warning off, during its pleasure, Ernest Potter, of Parkside, and Timothy McMahon, of Fullarton. The ehairman of the South Australian Jockey Glub Stewards (Mr J. E. Keating) aileged that Potter and McMahon had approaehed him with a plan by which they wotild be allowed to tise a battery on a horse. In return they had offered to lay him odds to £100 on the horse selected. The proposition was that he should guarantee that a certain Sydney joe* key should not be questioned or search ed after riding certain horses. His share in the continuing transaction would be between £3000 and £5000 a year. Mr Keating said he had arranged for a raceeotirse detective and a stipendiary steWal'd to follow him to the next meeting with the men, and had then handed the mattef over to them,
