AUCKLAND, Nov. 28. Chibabhai Rallabhai Patel, an Indian fruit vendor, had a cheerless honte -coming recently aftfer a life of frugality and hard work in New Zealand, according to an Indian newspaper. Soon afier he arrived In Bombay, Customs oificials found his life savings, £3000, in gold slabS alid nuggets hiddeh in a false bottom in ohe of his trunks. Patel was arrested ahd fined £75 uhder the foreign exchange regulations, in default three months' "rigorous imprisonment," and Customs ofidcers seized his gold.
