Stone Fruits Appear On Market
Messrs Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that new season's stone fruit has starte'd to come forward and is meeting with a strong demand, cherries realising up to 34s 6d for choice lines and peaches 19s per quarter case. Quotations are: — Fruit: Cherry plums, 10s to 16s; bronze, 12s to 21s per case; strawberries are quoted from 3s to 5s 4d chips; gooseberries, 8d to lld per Ib.; hot house tomatoes, ls 6d to 2s 3d per lb.; coloured, ls 4d to ls 9d; grapefruit, firm, 18s to 27s per bushel. Vegetables: Lettuce, 15s to 30s; silverbeet, 9s to 23s; cabbages, 3s to 15s; cauliflowersi l(Js to 26s per sack;, peas, 8d to lljd per lb.
