£47,000 For Land Taken By State

WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. A payment Qf £47,000 to Mr. Jfohn Hugh Marshall, a farmer, of Titahi Bay, has been awarded as compensation for about 450 acres of land at Titahi Bay taken by the Minister of Works for State housing purposes. Claimant originally sought £301,470 on July 30, 1947, but on September 21, 1949, the amount of the claim K was reduced to £185,337. Respondent had offered £32,000 for the' land. The decision of the spscial Compensation Court under the Public Works Act (1928) was given today in a judgmenfc by Mr. Justice Gresson, who was president of the court, which had as assessors Messrs A. K. North, K.C., and J. M. Dale.
