INSURANCE OMITTED
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 22. The omission >of nationalised ihdustrial insurance from a 500-page handbook which has been issued by the Labour -Party to all prospective Parliamentary candidates and which is intended to serve as a guide for their election speeches, has caused ccmment. It is known that the powerful cooperative movement 1 upon which the Labour Party relies I for support, opposes nationalisation j of industrial insurance. Amendj ments to the Party platform will be j considered at a meeting of the national executive of the Labour Party this week when it is expected that increasing opposition within the party to the nationalisation of industrial insurance will be one of'the chief matters for discussion. If the project is dropped, it is considered possible that an effort to appease its supporters may be made by introdueing proposals which would enable the State to supervise and control. insurance companies' use of their profits.
