Missing Dakota Crashed On Rugged Mountainside

Copvriaht )

Received Wednesday, 9.40 a.m. OSLO, Nov. 22. . A 12-year-old boy is the sole survivor of the Dakota plane that crashed into a mountainside forest near Oslo last Sunday. Rescue parties have recovered 26 bodies from the wreeked plane and the chances.of findmg more survivors are slender. A rescue patrol stumbled across the wreckage on the west bank of Oslo Fiord. In the mangled wreckage they found the charred bodies of the occupants, who comprised 29 Jewish children, two nurses and the crew- of four. The aircraft was conveying the children from North America to Norway. They were travelling under the auspiess of the Jewish- American Joint Distribution Committee to enjoy an educational spell in Norway before rejoining their parents now settled m Israel. The plane apparently tipped the side of the mountain and then roared into the wild and rugged side of the fiord, cutting a path 40 yards wide. The ffont was completely shattered, but the back was left intact. The rescued boy, Isaac Allal, is now in hospital and doctors say that he has a good chance of recovering. He could describe the crash only in the words, "We went round in circles."
