Floods Drive Families From Their Homes

Received Sunday, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 20. Families between Shepparton and Maroopna have been driven from their homes by flooding of areas along the Goulburn River whieh has left its banks at many points and is sweeping across thousands of acres of flats. The river is only 17 inches below the 1916 record level and is expected to rise further following new rainfalls in the catchment area. Most towns are high on the banks and are eonsidered safe but farmers and stock have beett moved from the lower levels. This has been Victoria's wettest spring for 80 years.
