FIRST KNOWN DELAYED EFFECT OF ATOM BOMB
Received Monday, 10.10 a.m. , NEW YORK, Nov. 20. American research workers in Japan had found the first known delayed effect of the atom bomb.on the human hody— cataracts that could lead to blindness, said the Boston Globe newspaper. Eye specialists examined 2000 persons exposed to the bomb in Hiroshima and Ngasaki and discovered radiation cataracts on ten of 237 persons; who wefe within about half a mile The survey was prompted in a considerable measure by the discovery in the pasl twelve months of cataracts on the eyes of cyclotron workers.
