Reduction Of Armed Forces And Weapons
Received Sunday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 19. A joint French-Norwegian proposal asking the Security Council to continue its study of the regulation and reduction of conventional armaments and armed forces, was approved today by a . special politieal committee. It defeated a Soviet proposal th'at member States submit information on atomie weapons as well as on arnled forces and conventional weapons. Sir Alexander Cadagan (Britaitt) said if it had not been for Soviet obstruction, the committee might nOW have effective international control of atomic energy and there would not be any atomie weapons in existence.
